Description

Skyline panoramic views, resort inspired amenities, a coveted community. Much more than just real estate, this 17-room home at Chester’s luxurious Roxitcus Ridge is a lifestyle. Skillfully integrated into its 3.07-acre topography, the multi-angle room design by architect Vincent (Jim) Matarazzo affords multiple walls of windows showcasing the stone terrace, pool and breathtaking views to the Roxiticus Valley and Morris Hills.

Lushly landscaped grounds and a paverstone courtyard set the stage at the home’s approach. Stone and cedar envelope the expansive French Country exterior. Enhancing interior spaces are French doors, windows and high ceilings richly defined with moldings and trim, paneled wainscoting, hardwood and marble floors. Trestles span the cathedral ceiling in the living room. Columns and beautifully crafted cabinetry distinguish the dining room. Further ahead of the two-story foyer is the library with its long wall of handsome oak built-ins. Flowing one to the other are the great room and family room the latter with entertainment center and bar; each with coffered ceilings and fireplaces. The open floor plan continues to the kitchen, awash with light, and featuring furniture grade cabinetry, two islands and dazzling octagonal breakfast area.

A grand staircase rises and turns in the foyer to the second level’s spacious suites. French doors open to the master. In the bedroom, additional French doors open to Juliette balconies and an immense picture window readily draws the eye to the home’s 180-degree views. The suite also includes a large dressing room with two walk-in fitted closets, a sitting room with entertainment center and bar, and a lavish bath. The three additional suites are accompanied by spacious closets and beautifully appointed baths. Bridging the suites is an open lounge.

Exceptional character and quality continues on the walk-out lower level. Reflecting the foundation’s 12-block construction, high ceilings, elegantly trimmed, add pleasing aesthetics to the media, game and exercise rooms. Significant unfinished space awaits the new owner’s needs and imagination.

Roxiticus Ridge is but one of several magnificent estate communities which have come to dot the rolling hills, serene fields and winding roads of Chester Township. The attraction is hardly surprising. The community offers highly regarded public schools, nearby private schools and a recently built state of the art public library. A walk down its historic main street reveals charming antique stores, boutiques and venues for fine country dining. Nearby the contemporary Streets of Chester is home to nationally recognized retailers. Yet only moments away Route 206 whisks residents to a network of major highways and the urban world beyond.

About Chester Township

When talking about Chester in southwestern Morris County, you need to distinguish between the Borough of Chester, which is the shopping village, and Chester Township, the surrounding area which is decidedly more rural. At about 1½-square miles, the borough is located at the intersection of Routes 206 and 24 and offers quaint streetscapes lined with one-of-a-kind boutiques, antique shops and restaurants. Chester Township includes 29.8 square miles of farmland, newer residential developments and historic homes.

Incorporated in 1799, over 40%--or 12 square miles--of the township is preserved as open space. There are nature reserves, parks and deed-restricted agricultural property under the state Farmland Preservation Program, which buys the development rights while allowing the farmer to retain title and continue working the land.

The Borough of Chester was incorporated in 1930, and is a separate municipality that shares many services with the township such as a library, first aid squad, fire department, community pool, athletic programs, civic organizations and schools.
